"I leave behind me the houses of Caprile, that slowly descend and plunge into the fields. Amidst them, the whitest, the tallest, the most opulent shines, foreshadowed by a dense and obscure park; the house where the Queen of Sweden once resided. Open, the large windows that look oun onto the terraces. The wind playing with the white curtains, across the mysterious shadows of the rooms. At the end of the first terrace, a curtain raised the sun, billows out, swollen by the wind. Beneath the shade of the curtain, a whicker armchair scattered with cushions. Once upon a time, the queen sat upo that chair, waiting for her consort to arrive from the sea. But now that chair is deserted. The curtain flaps, solitary in the wind."...

It was in 1925 that Queen Victoria of Sweden, on recommendation of her physician A. Munthe, chose Anacapri as the the best place to reside due to her frail health.
The illustrious geust chose a farmhouse overlooking Ischia, hidden away from the prying eyes of passersby.
The Queen only changed the more rustic features, transforming the farm into a two-storey building.
She also gave it the rather humble name of Casa Caprile.
Apart from the parapets, which recall the architecture of A. Munthe, Victoria's home had discreet, typical Capri-style balconies, courtyards, gardens and terraces.
Today, Casa Caprile, or the House of the Queen, as the islanders call it, is now a delightful and ccomfortable hotel. Immersed in a beautiful landscaped park, the estate is still home to a luxuriant abundance of age-old plants, which remind one of the passions of this important visitor.
The hotel has been renovated but it still conserves the original structure; simple and refined it is synonymous of elegance and good taste.
